I’ve got BTTV and Nightbot running in my channel, and I have “BetterTTV GIF Emotes” set to “off”. I’m not sure if that’s the cause, but I this week I’ve noticed that gif emotes (like SourPls) aren’t triggering Nightbot’s “Excess emotes” filter.
Whether you have the setting enabled or not doesn’t change how nightbot works. Nightbot has no knowledge of your settings nor interacts with BTTV other than the emotes being counted by the spam filter.
In that case, I’m not quite sure what I’m seeing. I’ve got my “Excess Emotes” filter set to 8 emotes. I had a stream Friday morning where I had a user get timed out by Nightbot for too many emotes. An hour later, that same user was posting 20 SourPls emotes per message, repeatedly, with impunity. I’m the only user with access to Nightbot in my channel, and I didn’t issue any commands to Nightbot in that time, nor did I have the Nightbot dashboard/settings page opened.
Nightbot does not have detection for BetterTTV emotes at this time, sorry.
