Might be a stupid question. I am asking this question because “any user found to be using copyrighted material (without written permission from the copyright holder) will be forcibly removed.” Otherwise, I could just test the emote for approval but now there is the threat of my account being removed. Most likely, I want my emotes to be centered around a meme, so I might use that meme which is of course distributed already throughout the internet. Do I need a copyright permission for it? How do I know what is copyrighted and what not?

Use of copyrighted material in emotes is expressly forbidden. Any user found to be using copyrighted materials (without written permission from the copyright holder) will be forcibly removed.
Plain and simple, emotes that are determined to be breaking this agreement will be removed.
In short terms: If you don’t own it, don’t upload it.
