I’m thankful that alias commands exist, but I wish they were implemented differently.
All other chatbots that I’ve used include an “Alias” text box when creating or editing a command where you can type multiple aliases for the command, separated by commas. This is much more convenient than having to create a separate alias command, especially when multiple aliases are desired.
For example, to make an !instagram command with the aliases !ig and !insta, I’d have to make 3 commands in Nightbot, rather than 1 in other bots.
Making multiple alias commands also clutters my Commands list, making it more difficult for me to manage my commands. At the very least, I’d like the ability to hide or filter alias Commands from my command list so I can see only the “real” commands.
Over the years, I’ve been discouraged from making aliases to keep my commands list to a minimum, but then viewers get frustrated when they can’t remember the exact phrase to pull up the command.
Could the alias system be reworked to function more like other bots?
