I’m not even sure this is possible anymore. I remember seeing some mods in chats that every time they typed a message their name colour would change. Is there a specific API or command? Or is this a third party client?

Twitch has a chat command for this, do /color in any chat and you’ll get the help guide.
Yes but I would end up typing /color after every time I chat. I want the colors to cycle automatically
They likely made a little software/browser extension that sends API requests on their behalf to the chat.
