Now that it's been more than two years and there's been some solutions for integrating bots with channel points is there any development on the matter? Anything down the pipeline that can be done? Or is Twitch still being too restrictive?

Yup, Twitch still hasn't made that API endpoint accessible, so nothing can be done about it for now.
