New Nightbot Breaks My Current Song Playing

Hey, i was wondering the new Nightbot breaks my Current Song Playing for OBS Anyway to fix that? Thanks.

Make sure you’re using the Beta’s Desktop app to display the Current Song on OBS and not the old app. More info at https://docs.nightbot.tv/app-beta

Sorry for the confusion. We’ve added an error message to display in the old application linking you to the new one to download.

And can you tell me how to get that into obs cause i tried everything and i can’t cause theres no file to put from nightbot folder into obs

This is useless advice, the link defaults to your beta main page, there is NO INFORMATION here that helps with this issue, all you have done is redirect everyone to a haystack search why didn’t you just reply ‘search the internet where you will maybe find what you want there’, After downloadinf the ‘beta app’ you will have to relogin, where you will then do what exactly to fix this change? Go onto the auto DJ section???

Correct. You would simply open the AutoDJ page within the app. Sorry if that wasn’t made clear in the instructions.

So I’ve got the app open and everything, but is there any way to change the text output to be just the song name and artist instead of song name and requestee? I want people to know who performed it, not who requested it… (especially since I have my song requests set to owner only so only I can add songs to the playlist…)

It is planned to change the output of the current song text file. However since, this is an initial app release that features does not exist yet.

I’m not understanding why you would only set yourself as the only one to request songs, why not just run a station with Last.fm or a playlist on Spotify? You can just disable and enable song request as needed.

The copyright notice is a general notice about playing music on your stream. As long as you play music you have permission to stream or unlicensed/free music there shouldn’t be any issues. If you read the disclaimer closely it also offers instructions on setting up a limited playlist for viewers to request from.

And this corrects the ‘current song playing’ issue, so you no longer need a CLR browser or additional text source withing OBS, you ‘just download the app’ and goto the auto DJ page, this will then allow current songs playing to be displayed again? Just to be clear all I need to do is ‘simply open the auto DJ page’?

If there is anyone else here who now has the new app replace the old obsolete song names exe, can you please help me to restore the current song source I used previously, I want the current song information displayed in my channel and scroll as it did before this forced change over. Many thanks in advance,I’m all but ready to ditch nightbot once and for all with the advice i’m getting from the ‘support’ i.e. ‘lust go to the auto DJ section’…

I did this, I went onto the auto DJ section, and…nothing at all is there relating to ‘current song’ infromation, the text source I created is now obsolete, ‘just going onto the auto DJ’ did nothing at all, the old .exe I created message just redirects to the beta download, where are these 'instructions; exactly that explains how to re-create/replace the in stream song information that replaces the exe many of us used?

The text file output location has changed, so you need to edit your OBS source. The new locations of the files are on the download page: https://docs.nightbot.tv/app-beta#current-song-output

How can i have a current song window in my stream (OBS) wehre i pu %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Nightbot???

add new source TEXT

  • click on “use text from a file”
  • go browse C:\Users[your name]\Documents\Nightbot\current_song.txt
  • Done
